5/3/1 – Extra Work

So what do you do when you’ve been out all night with your best friend, drinking until the next day, feeling shitty and toxic?  You go into the gym at 7am and lift heavy shit — which is what I did. I never would have if I didn’t watch Bart Kwan of the Barbell Brigade on YouTube this morning and the reading that one of my friends on My Fitness Pal had already got her session in — I just had too.

I took the opportunity to work low bar squat based on max percentages with a wider stance this morning.

  1. Barbell Squat: 135×12, 215×5, 255×5, 295×3, 320×2, 350×1, 350×1, 350×3 (high bar.)
  2. Barbell Squat: 225×10,10,10,10,10.
  3. Barbell Hip Thrusts: 135×10, 135×15.

TOTALS: 21,870 LBS. 2 Exercises. 15 sets. 9/10. 67 mins.

I don’t know, but I think I much prefer high bar, even at those higher percents. I feel more explosive and in control. The above video shows how shaky I am and not sure of my footing. Even though, this is major suck, I will keep working on it.
