042A – 531 HMV

I am thinking on week two of 531 — or for me 351 — that my top set of five I might do three sets of five. I want to get a little more work in that top set.

  1. Squat (L): 135×8, 150×5, 185×5, 225×15 (AMRAP), 190×10,10,13 (AMRAP). (+5 lbs.)
  2. Bench Press (531): 115×5, 140×5, 170×3, 185×5, 215×5, 240×5, 145×10,10,10,10,22 (AMRAP). (+5 lbs.)
  3. Sumo Deadlift: 135×7, 135×5, 225×5, 315×8. (Challenge. FML).
  4. DB Flyes: 50×12,12,12. (+5 lbs.)
  5. Push-ups: 20,15. (+5 reps = 35).
  6. Chin-ups: 10,8,8,5,4. (+5 reps = 35).

TOTALS: 32 sets. 289 reps. 33,710 lbs.

By the end of last week, I could tell my chin-ups where becoming stronger in the first few sets. Today, even stronger. I like this. Tomorrow, “heavy” squat day. I will do a few more top sets of 5 reps, probably a total of 3 sets, before the 5 hypertrophy sets just to get a little more work in. I think I am good for it.
